Thursday night predictons - Williams to show no mercy

April 23, 2020

As we enter the second half of the league phase the league table is starting to take shape. Here are Colin Savage's predictions for Thursday night's five matches. As usual, you can watch it all live from 9:30 on our You Tube channel - https://bit.ly/RDL2020Watch

Alan Norris v Paul Hogan (21:30)

In the first game of the night, 'Chuck' takes on in-form 'Crocodile Dundee'. Alan's form has been topsy-turvy so far, but with the undoubted ability he has, it's surely only a matter of time before he clicks into top gear. Hogan on the other hand has been very consistent each night, and after being the draw specialist on the opening two nights is now in full flow with three straight victories. Everything points to him continuing that run tonight.

Prediction: Hogan to win 7-4

Tony O'Shea v Gary Robson (22:00)

The second game of the night sees two great friends collide. O'Shea is ticking along nicely, and the hugely popular Stockport native is putting together a very decent challenge for a top 4 spot. Robson too has come alive in this tournament, and with back-to-back wins under his belt he now finds himself challenging for the qualifying places as well. A good start will required here by both, but if Robson can produce the heavy scoring which seen off Alan Norris and Darryl Fitton, I believe he can just get past 'Silverback' tonight.

Prediction: Robson to win 7-5

Darryl Fitton v Dean Winstanley (22:30)

'The Dazzler' takes on 'Over the Top' in the third game of the Thursday fixtures. Whilst Fitton has been in solid form he will be hurting after a very disappointing performance against Gary Robson on Wednesday night. Winstanley, after a few heavy defeats in a row, and sitting bottom, needs to find some of the old form to cause any sort of upset here. I'm taking Fitton to turn the heat up tonight and win this comfortably.

Prediction: Fitton to win 7-3

James Richardson v Wes Newton (23:00)

The fourth match of the night sees the league leader, 'Ruthless' take on 'The Warrior'. The aptly nicknamed Richardson has been in scorching form the last few nights, and bar a major mishap that will continue here. Newton to his credit, produced a much improved performance on Wednesday against Alan Norris and was very unlucky not to come away with anything. Richardson is in full flow, with high scoring and clinical finishing, and I'd be surprised if anything other than a heavy victory over Newton occurs.

Prediction: Richardson to win 7-2

Jim Williams v John Walton (23:30)

The night closer night sees 'The Quiff' take on 'John Boy' Walton. Williams after a draw and defeat respectively on nights four and five, will be looking to produce a top performance here and secure a heavy victory to take him away from the chasing pack in the top 4 race. ' John Boy' will have to go up a few levels to make this any sort of a contest I feel.Williams will have Walton under pressure with his scoring from the off, and if Walton continues to miss groups of doubles as he has been, our second whitewash of the league phase could be on the cards.

Prediction: Williams to win 7-1
